July 21 for a new style (according to the old - July 8) The Orthodox Church notes an important holiday - the phenomenon of the icon of the Mother of God. This date is established in honor of the day of the attainment of the shrine.
In the distant 1579, Kazan Khanate was already a quarter of a century in the hands of King John Grozny. This year was extremely difficult for the city. Summer was extremely hot and arid. In June 1579, a strong fire broke out in Kazan, because of which half of the Kazan Kremlin and a good part of the city simply turned into an ashiste. Only the Muslim part of the residents of Kazan shook after that, believing that this way the Creator drew his anger on Christians.
One of the citizens was the Sagittarius Daniel Onuchin - his house was among the buildings destroyed by fire. It was quite reasonable, he decided to erect a new dwelling at the burnt site. At the same time, one event happened, which was subsequently described as the most real miracle.
Daniel had a 10-year-old daughter named Matron. In one of the nights in a dream, the image of the Virgin, who had commanded her to go to the scene of a fire, to dig an icon among the dawns and tell about this to the Graduals and Archbishop. The Matron told his parents about her sleep, but they did not take her words seriously. Unusual dreams did not stop. After the third time, the girl hardly persuaded her mother together with her to go to the specified place and fulfill the request of the Virgin. It was not long to rack the ruins - very soon in front of them shone the wonderful light icon. The paints with which the image was applied was struck by their freshness and brightness. The event this happened on July 8 (old style) 1579.
Soon all Kazan learned about the amazing find. Crowds of people reached the place of gaining shrines. A prayer was held, after which the image of the Kazan Mother of God was solemn, with a godfather, transferred to the Kazan Blagoveshchensky Cathedral. Already then the icon appeared his first miracle: during the procession to the two blinds - Nikita and Joseph - vision returned.
When John Grozny himself recognized about the wonderful acquisition of the icon, he ordered a female monastery on the spot of its discovery. A few years later, in Kazan-Bogoroditskaya, the monastery took the lead and Matron with her mother.
It is unknown to anyone, how "Kazan" icon turned out to be at the scene of a fifty. Some believe that in the city she was brought by the Apostle Luka, others - some Muslim, who adopted the Christian faith and forced to hide. Third adhere to the opinions that icon hit Kazan due to the unknown Russian prisoner.
Alas, in 1904, the genuine icon of Kazan Mother of God was abducted and destroyed by robbers. Only numerous lists (copies) were turned around, which, after the revolutionary 1917, were separated throughout the world. The Russian Orthodox Church is trying hard to return the shrines to their homeland.

The earliest copy of the icon of the Kazan Our Lady, preserved to the present day, was written in 1606. Now it is stored in the Russian capital, in the Tretyakov Gallery.
Another, no less revered list is also located in Moscow - in the house temple with the residence of the Patriarch of Moscow. His Russian Orthodox Church received as a gift from Roman Catholic - in honor of the termination of rivalry between them.
